Amateur vs Professional Photographer

I was reading an excerpt from my online PPA (Professional Photographers of America) magazine, regarding light and I really loved this quote.  I have heard and read this so many times from other photographers.

The photographer who says she doesn’t work with strobe, generally means she doesn’t have the skill or is unwilling to expend the effort required to meld strobe seamlessly with other existing light. Lack of skill is not a style. The boutique photographer knows there is no excuse for poorly lit, contrasty, blurry or noisy images unless she has chosen to use these devices to visually enhance meaning.

Happy Easter Everyone!

We had an awesome Easter.  Grandma was here, we went on an Easter egg hunt, found the Easter baskets, we ate Easter eggs,  Joy cooked baked crab, we ate crab (yum!), we ate chocolate bunnies, and enjoyed the day outside.  What more could you want?  For those that don’t know my mother lives in Arizona and is visiting us here for Easter.  I hope everyone had as good as Easter as we did with your Family.

Chuckie Cheese is Fun for the Whole Family

Everybody loves Chuckie Cheese.  The pizza is good, kids can run around like crazy, and the games are fun!  What is not to love?  I loved Showbiz pizza when I was growing up and I think I had almost every birthday party at Showbiz.  Joy and I have talked about sneaking out and going to Chuckie Cheese alone for skeet ball and the .99 cent game. Haha.

Dinkytown

Spring fever has sprung and time to get out and shoot! I meet up with other local photog enthusiasts down by the U of M to visit Frans Lanting photography art exhibit. Afterward we went to Dinkytown on a photowalk (walk around and shoot pictures). Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Soccer Superstar

Tai has a school arts fair coming up in early April. We decided to put together a little modeling shoot to display his character and his natural ability for posing. He really does have this natural ability to model, sometimes I give him a little direction and that is all he needs. I am sure no one else will have the same project.

The day started out really nice and partly sunny, then progressively got worse. By the time we got out there it dropped 20 degrees, nothing but clouds, and the wind picked up something fierce. I had stuff blowing around everywhere and the wind was blowing over my lightstands. We also had to drive around to three different soccer fields before we found any fields with nets in the goals.
